Jane's diary: February
We peek into the diary of Jane Shephersdon - our inspirational CEO.
American Psycho the musical
I’m a huge fan of Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 thriller so I was over the moon to see the story jump from the page to the stage! Rupert Goold’s portrayal is witty, slick and utterly engaging and Matt Smith stole the show as wealthy Wall Street banker/serial killer Patrick Bateman.
My current favourite titles included The Art of Fielding by the wonderful American novelist Chad Harbach. The main character, Henry, is destined to be a huge baseball star but the plot takes an unexpected turn when he throws the ball off course and the fates of five other characters are changed forever. My second recommendation is Ghana Must Go, a beautiful story about a broken family that later become reunited. Taiye Selasi’s narrative is rich and incredibly touching.
Last month we hosted our brand day presentation at the awe-inspiring London Film Museum. Team members from stores and head office came along to see our spring/summer 2014 offerings in the flesh and I did a quick presentation on the season ahead. It was great to get everyone from across the company together in one room. I can’t wait for the warm spring weather so I can start wearing the collection.
Autumn/winter 2014 show
Our third LFW appearance went down a storm. The static presentation of our autumn/winter 2014 collection took place in a beautiful townhouse on Fitzroy Square. Our army of models took over the entire first floor and a sea of bloggers, press and celebrities, including the gorgeous Olivia Palmero, resulted in a full house. The whole day feels like a wonderful blur now…roll on September.
The Magazine Restaurant
I had a gorgeous dinner last week at the newly opened Magazine Restaurant. Set within the beautiful Hyde Park, the restaurant was designed by the inspiring Zaha Hadid Architects and serves up delicious Japanese/British fusion food - I highly recommend the Black Angus fillet steak.
Item of the month
I absolutely adore the pale pink leather A-line skirt. I can see myself wearing it throughout the British summer with sneakers, pool slides, and a simple white or grey marl tee…completely effortless.
