Jane's diary: February

We peek into the monthly diary of Jane Shepherdson, our inspirational CEO.

Paris

I hopped on the Eurostar to Paris to visit our wonderful French concessions. After a day of meetings and a store visit to our beautiful Printemps space, I managed to nip round the corner to grab a bite in my favourite Japanese in Paris - Nanashi. Fresh, healthy cuisine with an east meets west feel. The atmosphere is relaxed, effotlessly hip and the bento boxes are not to missed.

What I wore to Paris

My Paris look needs to be both comfortable for travel and smart enough for my meetings. For this trip I opted for my new soft trench, relaxed, elegant and modern - it's fast become my go-to spring jacket. Underneath I layered an easy Slim Stripe Knit teamed with the tailored Gaby Trouser and the statement Ada Strap Mule.

AW15 Look Book

This month we shot our look book for autumn/winter 15, and I'm already looking forward to next season. The design team were inspired by the beautiful landscapes and wildlife of the Shetlands - collection highlights include tactile faux furs and statement shearlings. The scarf plays a bold styling tool, enveloping with oversized blanket wraps - it's all about chic protection against the elements! It really is set to be the season of the trouser, from oversized utility details and extra long lengths to cropped hems in bold colours, paired with a chic pointed shoe. Floow the link below to see the full look book - I’d love to know your favourite pieces?

Item of the month

The most perfect piece in our collection right now is the striped funnel neck knit – for someone like me who loves a stripe, this top is a dream. I have already worn it with skinny black jeans, blue boyfriends, cropped black trousers and even a leather skirt…it works!

Selma

I went to Screen on the Green (my local cinema) to see this inspiring film directed by Ava DuVaernay. Set during 1965 in Selma, Alabama, British actor David Oyelowo's incredible performance as Martin Luther King tells a heart breaking story about America's civil rights struggle. The supporting cast are superb, Carmen Ejogo plays Coretta Scott King (the film focuses on the strain of their marriage) and co-producer Oprah Winfrey shows incredible strength as Annie Lee Cooper. I recommend catching this powerful film while its still in the cinema.

Babington House trip: Stutterheim for Whistles

Putting our exclusive raincoat collaboration to the test, we invited fashion editor friends of Whistles to escape from the city for the night and explore the serene and stylish grounds of Babington House. Function and style combined perfectly as the jackets kept us dry, warm and looking sharp during some rather competitive outdoor pursuits. We ended the day with a wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant.
