Birds Eye View at the BFI
I went to the Birds Eye View opening night at the BFI Southbank, the festival celebrates female Arab film makers and they are showing 'Habibi' as the finale film - a romance set in modern Gaza based on a classic tale described as the Arab 'Romeo & Juliet'.
I’ve been out and about this month, starting with a day in Amsterdam to look at the renaissance of fashion retail in Amsterdam. I just love wandering along the quieter canals, looking at the architecture - it's fascinating to imagine what their original purpose was.
I have just finished Maggie O'Farrell's new book 'Instructions for a Heatwave' which is a really good Irish family saga set in the heatwave of 1976. It is actually quite hard to imagine those sweaty humid days whilst we are in winter’s icy grip, but she writes so well about family relationships that it kept me gripped to the end.
Two days after Amsterdam, I was having lunch at the Fourth Floor in Harvey Nichols Edinburgh and marvelling at the incredible view down to the Firth of Forth and snow capped hills beyond, before visiting our wonderful store on George St.
