Andreas Gursky - Early Landscapes
A favourite Whistles haunt, the intimate and modest Sprüth Magers gallery is currently showcasing landscapes by revolutionary photographer Andreas Gursky - the gallery is literally a stone’s throw away from our Dover Street store.
Early Landscapes is the first exhibition to focus on important early Gursky works from the late 1980’s. Simply titled after the geographical location where they were taken, these works evoke a sense of calm and balance within the overwhelming natural compositions.
This exhibition is a must for Gursky fans, as an insight into the development of the photographer who is predominantly known for his use of digital manipulation within his work. It is easy to see the formations of his now signature ‘extra-terrestrial’ and exaggerated perspective.
From enveloping mountains to vast riverbanks, the pictures shown in Early Landscapes carry an otherworldly distant feel, a viewpoint only Gursky can master.
