Collier Schorr: 8 Women
Photographer Collier Schorr’s name is a quietly established one. Her work, spanning both the art and the fashion worlds, is widely recognised for her realistic and unique perspective. 8 Women, Schorr’s latest book, presents her curated images of women who work primarily with performance, be it as artists, models and musicians.
Having spanned both industries over the past twenty five years, from her early days working alongside Richard Prince at 303 gallery in New York, to her fashion transgression, building up a portfolio of high fashion editorials for Self Service, i-D and The Gentlewoman amongst others.
8 Women is a intriguing collection of Schorr’s early experimentations from the mid-nineties stemming through to her commissioned fashion editorials, collaged, layered and re-appropriated by the artist herself. Throughout, Schorr questions the concept of the female gaze, who the women that desire to be looked at are, as well as what power exists in acknowledging a post-feminist position.
Launching tonight with book signing at Claire De Rouen, 6-9pm.
