Fiona Banner Selects from the V-A-C Collection

Stamp Out Photographie, a new exhibition curated by Banner, features her favourite pieces from the V-A-C collection. Launching this December at the Whitechapel Gallery.

The V-A-C collection is a Moscow based gallery, owned by a non for profit private institution in 2009. With the aim to collect a wide range of important art works, including pieces from the likes of Richard Avedon, Liz Deschenes, Sigmar Polke, Andy Warhol, Claude Monet, and Gerhard Richter.

Esteemed artist Fiona Banner has curated her favourite works from this collection, including Gerhard Richter’s Kerze, used as the cover for Sonic Youth’s Daydream Nation, Andy Warhol’s Jackie, Claude Monet’s Church in Vétheuil and Bridget Riley’s Stretch.

There’s also works by Sherrie Levine, James Welling, Rosemarie Trockel and Olafur Eliasson amongst others. The show launches on December 7th, closing on March 8th 2015. It’s the second in a series of artist-selected exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery, with the next collection being curated by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.
