Exhibition: Francois Truffaut L’exposition
The iconic New Wave director Francois Truffaut has an extensive exhibition taking place at La Cinémathèque Française in Paris.
Truffaut is one of the most celebrated and imitated directors in history, so a retrospective as all-encompassing as this one has been overdue. L’Exposition combines numerous excerpts from films and interviews, photographs and original costumes and documents. In addition to this, there’s previously unseen items, such as actor screen tests, costume sketches and handwritten notes, which all blend together to create a full look at Truffaut’s world.
The exhibition goes from his youth in the Pigalle district, to his time as a film critic at Les Cahiers Du Cinema, his book of interviews with Alfred Hitchcock, an idol of his, to his film career. Alongside this is a photography collection from the likes of Jacques-Henri Lartigue and Richard Avedon, who captured the inner workings of Truffaut’s films.
The exhibition takes place at La Cinémathèque Française and is on until February 1st 2015.
