David Bowie Is
The V&A, London
With only two weeks to go until the opening of David Bowie Is at the V&A museum, we’re listening to our Bowie playlist on repeat. The gargantuan exhibition is set to celebrate the many stylistic phases of the pioneering musician, from his early days as a flame-haired glam rocker known as Ziggy Stardust, to the well turned out guise behind his latest album, The Next Day, scheduled for release on March 11.
Exhibits on display will include handwritten lyrics and legendary outfits worn by the singer, including a patchwork asymmetric leotard worn by the star during his seminal Ziggy Stardust tour and a pastel-blue Yves Saint Laurent suit, hailing from Bowie’s soulful Thin White Duke phase.
As well as producing some of our all-time favourite dance floor fillers including Let’s Dance and Starman, the chameleon of rock made some of the most inspirational forays in 20th century fashion, and still continues to do so in his latest video for new track The Stars (Are Out Tonight) featuring style icons Tilda Swinton and model Saskia De Brauw. Undoubtedly set to be the hottest ticket of the year, we highly recommend a visit.
