Exhibition: The World of Charles and Ray Eames

24.12.2015
The Eames House, Eames Foundation

America’s perfect designer couple, Charles and Ray Eames were the prodigious talents behind some of the most innovative architecture, furniture, and photography of the last century.

Now open at the Barbican, ‘The World of Charles and Ray Eames’ celebrates two of America’s most influential designers, whose infectious creativity and enthusiasm produced everything from modern architecture to leg splints for the military. The exhibition is comprised of every aspect of their lives: personal letters, photographs, drawings, artwork, models, multi-media installations, and furniture combine to paint an extensive picture not only of their groundbreaking work but also the relationship that produced it.

The thing that stands out about the couple is, perhaps surprisingly, their happiness. Where most creatives are pictured looking deadly serious, Charles and Ray are constantly beaming, and their love for each other and their work shines through in each design. An expertly curated and inspirational exhibition, we can’t think of many better things to do this Christmas.

The exhibition is open until 14th Feb 2016, buy your tickets here.
