Whistles icon: Steve Jobs
Eulogized by some, condemned by others - the divisive Steve Jobs is a modern icon and the focus of our latest in the series.
A man who changed the world from his garage, Steve Jobs’ career is definitive West Coast entrepreneur. He founded Apple, got fired, founded Pixar, got rehired and then took it from near bankruptcy to being the world’s second most valuable company. By the end of his tenure Apple was part tech titan part cult of personality, with Jobs’ keynotes as anticipated as the products themselves.
Set to add to the man’s mythos is this month’s release of ‘Steve Jobs’, written by Aaron Sorkin (West Wing, The Social Network) and directed by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) with Michael Fassbender starring as the titular CEO. Focusing on three of the most important product launches of the mogul’s career and ending with the unveiling of the iMac in 1998, the film features Sorkin’s trademark snappy dialogue complemented by Boyle’s lightning fast editing and high-energy pacing.
With a dress sense as pared-back as the products he designed, Jobs’ wardrobe was filled with identical Issey Miyake rollnecks, jeans, and new balance trainers. If you’re looking to add some of this simplicity to your own style, try our runners, Whistles x Edwin jeans, and merino sweaters.
Steve Jobs is out on 13th November. To go deeper into his life, try reading Walter Isaacson’s biography.
