Here’s the low-down on The Morning Show so far. What’s the plot? The Morning Show was inspired by Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV about The Today Show and will explore the power dynamics of men and women in the workplace – delving into ageism and sexism. Told through the lens of two complicated female characters, it is an unapologetic drama that was reinspired just as the #MeToo movement was surfacing, as well as sexual assault allegations against American television news anchor Matt Lauer. Who’s who? Jennifer Aniston plays Alex Levy, the head anchor on The Morning Show, whilst Reese Witherspoon co stars as Bradley Jackson, an aspiring and hungry journalist who is focused on her own career progression. The female leads bring contrasting ideas of feminism and ways of working in male-dominated spaces to the television series. Meanwhile, Steve Carell plays Mitch Kessler, Levy’s former co-anchor who was fired after a sexual misconduct scandal. Other names to look out for are Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Karen Pittman and Bel Powley. When can we watch it?
