Why is it called “Black Friday”
A day associated with shopping, Black Friday became a well-established tradition in the U.S. in the late 1980s. However, its origins can be traced back to long before that. From symbolising the moment when retailers traditionally operated “in the red” to moving “into the black” to police officers in Philadelphia coining the term to describe the increased traffic into the city, the name has various origins.
