Nylon

The recycled nylon we use is made from both ocean waste and pre-consumer material scraps destined for landfill. Advanced recycling technologies help to regenerate nylon waste to its original quality, adding resilience to our pieces. By offsetting the production of new virgin fibres, we are reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and regenerating nylon waste into new nylon fibre.

Washing and drying without machines can significantly extend the life of your nylon clothes. And since nylon washes and dries easily, hand washing isn’t labour intensive.

HOW TO WASH AND DRY NYLON
A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
MACHINE WASHING

If your wash care label advises a delicate machine wash:

STEP 1
Pre-treat any oil based stains prior to machine washing. Spot clean with detergent/stain remover and thoroughly rinse garments before washing.

STEP 2
Using a suitable detergent wash the garment separately on a 30 degrees cold wash. Ideally place your item in a GUPPYFRIEND® washing bag – this helps to prevent damage to the item collect any microfibres from the fabric.

HAND WASHING

Nylon fabrics are usually long-lasting, but the more they are washed and dried, the more likely they are to pill and become worn out. We recommend hand washing from time to time to increase the longevity of the garment and avoid pilling or holes.

STEP 1
Using a clean bowl, dissolve a small amount of delicate wash detergent into lukewarm water at a max temperature of 30°C.

STEP 2
Submerge the item and gently agitate with your hands, ensuring the soap is evenly distributed.

STEP 3
Leave to soak for up to 20 minutes.

STEP 4
Rinse the item well with cool water. Do not wring, instead, press the water out of the item.

DRYING

STEP 1
Hang or line dry. Please read the care label as to whether to avoid direct sunlight due to the garment colour/print.

Do not dry with heat or in a tumble dryer as it may cause static or pilling on the garment.

MORE TIPS TO CARE FOR YOUR NYLON STYLES
  • As with most fabrics, microfibres are released while washing nylon, making their way into our water streams and oceans. To reduce this, we recommend using a GUPPYFRIEND® washing bag when washing synthetic fibres.
