The Autumn-Winter 22 Trend Guide Has Arrived

The emergence of autumn-winter ushers in a time for clarity — a pause in our calendars that harks back to academic tradition but which affords us an intentional refresh. And it’s forever playing out sartorially; when the leaves start to turn and crisp with that autumn tinge, we happily shed our summer skins and gravitate toward cosy, comforting pieces in the closet. Tactility and texture are key — these pieces promise to reliably see us through the season in style. But as ever, they need enough energy to revitalise our wardrobes.

Our autumn-winter collection is no exception. This season, we dial into the mood of the moment with vivacious pieces that reflect the spirit of party season — which has returned in full swing as we anticipate a jovial period of togetherness and tradition. It manifests in playful pieces that feel light-hearted and luxe, whilst we also maintain our longstanding commitment to timelessness and day-to-dark ease. From the colour palettes and textures pulling a new focus, to the must-have outerwear and denim to revolve all your looks around, here is your autumn-winter trend guide.

Joyful knits

What could be more uplifting than a candy-coloured knit to brighten even the greyest of winter days? The woollen wardrobe gets a Crayola effect this fall, with a palette of warm and wearable hues that prove a cleanse from the traditional blacks, greys and navys. Pair cornflower blue cardigans and pale yellow sweaters with crisp white denims, while statement cherry shades and teal greens are perfectly complemented by rich indigo tones: for an after-hours take, slip a sunflower-coloured cardi over slinky silks for an effortless yet elegant look.

Texture

Tactility comes from unexpected pieces this AW22 season: think woollen dungarees, buttery leather mini skirts, frilly-collared jackets crafted from sporty fabrics, tassel-trimmed sweaters and ruffle-necked blouses that offer a whimsical alternative to the button-up shirt. But texture isn’t just confined to clothing; padded running sneakers inject a performance-infused feel to smart-casual looks, while our best-selling Bibi bag is quilted in myriad colourways. Meanwhile, bucket hats and mitts are made new in fuzzy fibres, and slip-on clogs come lined with shearling for autumn warmth — paired with socks for a new season take on your summer slides.

Bold fuchsia

Bold, bright and beautiful, dynamic colours are the way to go this season and fuchsia is a favoured shade for autumn-winter — Pantone even declared it so. Pink is a hue we haven’t seen much of in recent years, which is why this particular shade feels so alive with spirit — but while it’s distinct, it’s also wearable and versatile. Now is the time to pair bold, tactile knits with black leather midi skirts — a go-to look for an after-work dinner — while our barrel-leg jeans will be launching in fuchsia corduroy that offers an everyday statement. Meanwhile, midi dresses are perfect for the forthcoming party season — from velvet textures to pleated and puffed sleeve details, there’s colourful, statement styles for every occasion.

Denim

A perennial wardrobe staple, denim has long-been a hardworking ally in our closets, staying true to its utilitarian roots. But for AW22, we have turned this humble fibre into a statement-maker, alongside our more classic denim staples, utilising it on everything from tiered midi dresses that will last beyond the season to frilly blouses that feel typically 1970s glam. We’ve also created sleek bustiers to be styled solo or over crisp shirting and one things’ for sure: this season’s denim is anything but a wallflower.

Statement jackets

The jacket – a lightweight but warming extra layer — has become a canvas for sartorial expression in recent seasons: it’s as easily styled as part of an outfit as it is worn buttoned-up, as a statement in its own right. There’s no shortage of cropped versions to take centre stage this season either. From reversible shearlings that are the definition of polished practicality, to oversized puffer coats in irresistible colours, and boxy quilted jackets in rich tobacco shades, this standout outerwear makes everyday elegance easy.

Cool and neutral colours

Understated tones will never be out of style, and this season, these warming, biscuit hues are a modern take on classic autumn dressing. Switch out blacks and greys for shades of cappuccino and caramel — they may be more muted than vivacious colours, but they’ll feel just as uplifting come the darkest winter days. Layer tone on tone for a put-together look that takes no forward-planning — think ecru woollen vests over checked shirt dresses or paired with crisp white jeans. Dark leather accessories – think chunky boots and crossbody bags — will ground the look in the everyday: perfect for pounding the pavements.
